Shawn Michaels Announces Huge NXT #1 Contender’s Match
A huge match has been announced by Shawn Michaels regarding the next challenger for the NXT Championship.
Carmelo Hayes has been the NXT Champion for over three months since he won the title from Bron Breakker at Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania 39 weekend back in April.
Since then, Hayes has taken on all comers. After Breakker lost at Stand & Deliver, he turned heel and looked as strong as ever going into the Battleground PLE. However, Hayes found a way to beat Breakker again.
On the June 27th edition of NXT, Hayes had more tough competition when he faced Baron Corbin, who came close to winning multiple times before Hayes found a way to win that match too.
As for what’s next, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative for WWE and he is the man that runs the NXT brand.
In a tweet that was sent out during Friday’s Smackdown broadcast, Michaels announced on Twitter that Bron Breakker will face Ilja Dragunov on NXT this Tuesday. The winner of that match will get to challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship at the Great American Bash Premium Live Event on July 30th in Cedar Park, Texas

If Breakker wins then it will be the third straight Premium Live Event where he faces Hayes. As for Dragunov, he certainly deserves to be in a number-one contender’s match since he has a lot of momentum and recently picked up a big win over Dijak.
One match that is likely happening at Great American Bash will see Mustafa Ali challenge Wes Lee for the NXT North American Title. Ali picked up a big win over Tyler Bate this past Tuesday on television. The match hasn’t been made official yet.
