Why Seth Rollins Isn’t Surprised By Ronda Rousey’s WWE Exit

Fans’ reaction to Ronda Rousey’s entry and exit from the WWE was polar opposite.

Before officially joining the Stamford promotion, Rousey was a well-established MMA star, having won numerous accolades in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

She had two stints with the company, and by the time she retired for a second time, she had become one of the most polarizing figures.

Rousey was also part of interviews where she criticized the working of the company, questioning its work ethic. She earned a ton of backlash from wrestling fans and other representatives of the industry.

While Ronda Rousey has claimed that WWE kept the door open for her return, it remains to be seen if she will ever change her mind. Elsewhere, she will return to MMA in May after recently announcing a match against fellow pioneer Gina Carano.

Seth Rollins Not Surprised By Ronda Rousey Leaving WWE

For over a decade and a half, Seth Rollins has been a loyal patron of WWE, currently holding his position as one of the company’s top stars.

During a recent sit-down on the Club Shay Shay podcast, he was asked about Ronda Rousey’s time in the promotion. Rollins did not beat around the bush, claiming that he was not surprised that she left.

I’m not surprised at all. What they were asking Ronda to do was very hard. The schedule was crazy back then—this was pre-COVID when she came in around 2018.

At first, everything was easy and curated for her. It was all choreographed. She had maybe one match every six months. It was well rehearsed, and that can be fun. Wrestling that way can be enjoyable and even addictive.

However, he stressed that true wrestling is not all about rehearsed appearances, but also includes learning the craft, followed by the grind.

But that’s not really what wrestling is. Wrestling is a grind. It used to be five times a week. You have to learn your craft. If you’re not used to that and you come in with everything built around you, and then you have to work backwards, that’s tough.

The former WWE Champion also acknowledged that Ronda Rousey had other aspirations in life.

She also had other aspirations. She wanted to be a mom, and it’s very hard to be a mom and do our job—especially if you want multiple kids. If you’re not having fun and you don’t love it, I’m definitely not surprised she felt like she needed to get away from it. It doesn’t surprise me at all.
