Sami Zayn Makes Honest Oba Femi Admission Ahead Of WWE SmackDown

The current WWE Champion, Sami Zayn got honest about Oba Femi potentially challenging him for the title.

At Night of Champions 2026, Oba Femi became the King of the Ring by defeating Jey Uso in the final. On the other hand, Sami Zayn surprisingly captured the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of the show. Oba had to decide whether he would challenge the Undisputed Champion or the World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam.

However, Oba Femi chose to postpone his title opportunity, as he will be facing Brock Lesnar inside the Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam 2026. The WWE Champion, Sami Zayn reflected on not being challenged by the King of the Ring winner, Oba.

Speaking on the RAW Recap this week, Sami Zayn said he is not looking past Oba Femi after winning the WWE Championship but doesn’t care who his challenger is:

You know, I’ll be honest — this is not to say I’m looking past Oba (Femi) whatsoever, trust me. But, my head was more wrapped up in just like, hey, can I get a minute? Can I just get a second here? 10-plus years chasing this, can I have just one moment? But no, of course, you have to rise to the occasion. I don’t care who the challenger is.”

Sami further stated that he doesn’t care if big names like Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, or Oba Femi challenge him because he won’t back down:

I don’t care if it’s Brock (Lesnar), I don’t care if it’s Roman (Reigns), I don’t care if it’s Oba. I’ve been in the ring with monsters. I’m not saying it would be a cakewalk, but, I’m not gonna back down either. I don’t mean to sound bravado here. I’m not trying to make myself seem more courageous than I am.”

Zayn also admitted that he is a little relieved to see Oba Femi facing Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam and not coming after him:

He is very imposing; there is no doubt but I don’t care who it is. That’s the thing about being WWE Champion. You got to. Was I a little relieved? I mean, yeah, sure. Sure. But, whoever, whoever. That’s gotta be part of it. That’s part of the game. That’s what you want… It’s nice to see Oba going off with Brock. That’s nice.” [H/T Fightful]

It will be interesting to see if Sami Zayn holds the WWE title till SummerSlam.
