Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens Defending WWE Tag Team Titles At Payback
Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens hope to put one of their most stressful recent rivalries to bed on Saturday September 2nd when WWE presents Payback.
After finishing their long feud with the Bloodline due to that group’s implosion, Owens and Zayn found new opponents in the Judgment Day. The stable used the numbers game to get the better of the champions, and at one point put Owens on the shelf with an injury.
In the weeks that followed, Zayn often found himself surrounded by Judgment Day members, to the point that he had to get help from different people like Cody and Seth Rollins.
But after Owens returned, the two Canadians brought the fight to The Judgment Day. However, despite the champions winning more often than not, the Judgment Day have kept coming back and causing more mayhem…until the champions decided it was time to end this back-and-forth once and for all.
Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn to face Finn Balor and Damian Priest at WWE Payback
The August 28th episode of RAW opened with a singles match between Priest and Zayn that saw Priest beat one half of the tag team champions. After the match, JD McDonough got involved once again, which led to an argument between Priest and Balor and Rhea Ripley threatening them both with major changes if they don’t win at Payback.
Shortly afterwards, Owens and Zayn announced that this match was going to be something special: instead of a standard tag match, this will now be a Steel City Street Fight. The stipulation was confirmed by WWE moments later.
