Sami Zayn Breaks Silence After Huge Title Win Ahead Of WWE WrestleMania 42

Sami Zayn is set to walk into WWE WrestleMania 42 as a champion.

On the March 27, 2026 episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Zayn answered Carmelo Hayes’ United States Championship Open Challenge.

He won the match after Trick Williams attempted to interfere. Williams intended to hit Zayn but accidentally struck Hayes instead, allowing Zayn to deliver a Helluva Kick to secure the pinfall victory.

After Zayn’s victory on the blue brand show, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced that he will defend his newly won United States Championship against Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas on April 18–19.

Sami Zayn Thanks His Fans And Supporters

Following his title win, Sami Zayn went online to share his joy and excitement about becoming the new champion. Zayn posted a tweet thanking his fans for supporting him through the tough times.

Zayn tweeted, “Big thank you to my fans. These past few months especially have been tumultuous, and you’ve had my back when times were tough. Now we are heading to WrestleMania together, and I am walking in as a champion. Lots of love -SZ”

This is Sami Zayn’s second reign as the United States Champion. His first reign as the U.S. Champion began on August 29, 2025, when he defeated Solo Sikoa for the title, and it ended on October 17, 2025, when he lost the title to Ilja Dragunov.

Aside from the WWE United States Championship, Sami Zayn has also won the WWE Intercontinental Championship four times and the WWE Tag Team Championship two times with Kevin Owens. He is also a one-time NXT Champion. He is yet to win a world title on the main roster.
