Rusev Gets Candid About Seeing Wife Make Out With AEW Star

Rusev has shed light on one of the most controversial WWE storylines in recent memory.

The plot was conceptualized and introduced on TV in late 2019 during an episode of Raw, where Lana started a romantic relationship with Bobby Lashley.

The viewing was especially uncomfortable for fans because Lana and the Bulgarian Brute are a real-life couple and have been married since 2016.

The story featured Lana flipping the narrative on Rusev, claiming that he was the unfaithful first. This led to multiple physical brawls between the male wrestlers, which often saw the Bulgarian get bested by The All Mighty.

Both superstars also competed in multiple matches, with Lashley getting the upperhand.

The storyline later involved a kayfabe wedding, which was interrupted by Liv Morgan, who claimed she was Lana’s former lover, culminating in a mixed tag team match.

Apart from it being uncomfortable to watch for viewers, the plot ended without any major payoff.

Additionally, Rusev was released from the company in 2020, followed by Lana and Bobby Lashley going their separate ways.

Rusev Touches Upon The Infamous WWE Storyline With Lana

During a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight, Rusev was asked how the storyline was pitched to him, to which he said it was supposed to build into a WrestleMania match.

Of course, that did not happen.

The 40-year-old star also played down the controversy despite how unbearable it was.

It’s acting, though, it’s nothing else, all these Hollywood people, and she’s the only one. How many other WWE female Superstars have made out with so many people? It’s just part of the business. If you start selling it, of course it’s gonna go bad for you, but as long as you take it just to work, it’s nothing else than just to work.
