Ronda Rousey Provides Update On WWE Contract Status

Ronda Rousey believes she is not “technically” under contract with WWE, but is still in contact with Stephanie McMahon.

Ronda Rousey was last seen in WWE at WrestleMania 35 back in April 2019, where she and Charlotte Flair were defeated by Becky Lynch in the main event Triple Threat Match for both the WWE Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.

At the time, Rousey explained her decision to step away, saying she and her husband, Travis Browne, were looking to start a family.

In September 2021, Rousey announced that she had given birth to her daughter, who the couple named La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne.

Since the former UFC star left WWE, there has been a lot of speculation on when she will return. WWE President Nick Khan added fuel to the fire when he said in an interview earlier this year that she would be back at a “certain point in time.”

While playing in a Facebook gaming stream, the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’ said that she’s not sure about her official contract status with WWE but thinks that “technically”, she isn’t under contract.

“I technically don’t think I am [under contract to WWE], but who knows? That’s a question for lawyers.”

She later said that she still exchanges messages with Stephanie McMahon, but hasn’t spoken to Triple H since before his recent surgery.

“I actually keep in touch with Steph because she’s sweet and we send each other baby pictures. I haven’t talked to Triple H since before he had his — he had heart surgery or something. I hope he’s alright.”

Ronda Rousey made her WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34, when she and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle faced off against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. She remained in the company for a year before her decision to take time away. her original contract is said to have been a three-year deal with WWE.
