Ronda Rousey Was Frustrated During Second WWE Run Due To A Powerful Person
Ronda Rousey expressed her frustrations with her second WWE run. The former Women’s Champion blamed Vince McMahon for what she had to go through.
Back in 2018, Ronda Rousey arrived on the WWE scene after gaining prominence through her legendary MMA career. She had a great first run in the Stamford-based promotion, as she became the Women’s champion, but left for over two years after losing the title at WrestleMania 35. Rousey returned for a second run in 2022 by winning the Women’s Royal Rumble that year.
She had two more runs as the Women’s Champion when Vince McMahon was there, and after Triple H took over the creative as well.
Ronda Rousey on her displeasure with the second WWE run due to Vince McMahon
In an interview with Complex, Ronda Rousey recalled how Vince McMahon was difficult to work with during her second run in the WWE and explained her issues:
The second run, Vince was just more far gone and more difficult to work with. There was a lot of inner turmoil going on in the company. It was kind of a sh*t show and nobody ever knew what was going on. You would get to the arena and you would be made to do something that somebody threw in your lap that hadn’t thought about it until 15 minutes before.”
Everything was super last minute and not well thought out, and there was no communication, no back and forth. Any attempt to collaborate felt like we were trying to negotiate something as opposed to partnering together to make something great.”
I love being out there in the ring and doing it, but the process was just such a clusterf*ck sh*t show that it was so much more anxiety than it was worth. I just look back at it and I just remember the anxiety of not knowing what was going on and then at the last minute, maybe we’d be able to pull it out of our ass and have a good night, and maybe not.”
Rousey also recalled how she wanted Triple H to take over as the creative head, but she didn’t get to experience his regime
I was definitely team Triple H to get up to take it over. I’ve heard it’s been much better since he’s taken things over, but unfortunately I didn’t get to experience it,” Ronda revealed. [h/t WrestlingNews.co]
Ronda Rousey left the WWE in 2023 and appeared on AEW earlier this year as well. Meanwhile, Ronda is set for her MMA return on May 16, as she will fight Gina Carano.
