Latest Update On Roman Reigns’ WWE Contract Ahead Of Backlash 2026
Roman Reigns is set to put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Jacob Fatu at Backlash 2026 on May 9.
Ahead of the clash with the Samoan Werewolf, a major update regarding Reigns’ WWE contract has come to light. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TKO/WWE hasn’t asked Roman Reigns to renegotiate his contract. Reigns’ contract is reportedly set to expire in May 2026.
“Roman Reigns was not asked to renegotiate (his WWE contract). None of the guys at that level, they’re not being asked. It’s the guys who, I’d say, again, without mentioning any names, they’d be guys who were at a higher level before than they are now. I think that’s the best way to put it.” [H/T WrestlePurists on X]
This update came after rumors circulated online suggesting that TKO was looking to renegotiate or reduce Reigns’ reported $15 million salary due to his limited schedule. There were also claims of tension between Reigns and TKO, which Sean Ross Sapp has already debunked.
Roman Reigns Is Not Ready To Retire yet
Roman Reigns has been with WWE for over a decade, and according to the Tribal Chief, he still plans to wrestle for a few more years to come, as he does not believe it is his time to retire yet.
“There is still a little more juice to squeeze. Almost there, but not quite. I still feel like I have a lot to offer. I’m 40 years young. With everything that we have within sports science, nutrition, all the information we have, careers have been extended.
We also get to a point where you grind it out early in your career, and then once you get towards the back end, that equity kicks in, and then you get into a different ballpark as far as finances. I’m not going to leave the park now.
If the ATM machine is broken, you’re not going to run away from it. You’re going to keep collecting that money. I still feel like, creatively, there is so much left for me to do, and there is still a great deal of earning for me to take advantage of.”
