Roman Reigns Retiring From WWE After WrestleMania? Truth Revealed
Roman Reigns was recently asked about his retirement plans.
The OTC is scheduled to face CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas on April 19.
Roman Reigns is currently a part-timer in WWE and still has one to two years left on his current contract. Given his part-time schedule and desire to break into Hollywood as a full-timer, many people have wondered if he is planning to hang up his boots.
Speaking to Nico Leonard, The Original Tribal Chief admitted that he is getting closer to the end of his career. However, he is not done yet, as he believes there is still more he can give.
He added that age is not holding him back, as modern sports science, recovery, and nutrition allow him to perform at a high level much longer than wrestlers could in the past.
Roman Reigns Has No Plans To Retire In The Near Future
Roman also noted that he worked extremely hard in the early stages of his career to build his name and reputation, and now that effort is paying off, allowing him to operate at a different level without the same struggles.
He further stated that he is making good money in WWE, so there is no reason to walk away from the business right now. Reigns emphasized that it is not just about money. He still feels creatively inspired and believes there is a lot left for him to accomplish.
“There is still a little more juice to squeeze. Almost there, but not quite. I still feel like I have a lot to offer. I’m 40 years young. With everything that we have within sports science, nutrition, all the information we have, careers have been extended.
We also get to a point where you grind it out early in your career, and then once you get towards the back end, that equity kicks in, and then you get into a different ballpark as far as finances. I’m not going to leave the park now.
If the ATM machine is broken, you’re not going to run away from it. You’re going to keep collecting that money. I still feel like, creatively, there is so much left for me to do, and there is still a great deal of earning for me to take advantage of.” [H/T Fightful]
Speaking to Nico Leonard, Roman Reigns also revealed his next goal in WWE. Reigns said he wants to win a championship and significantly elevate its value with his star power.
There’s not any accolade that I can win in wrestling now, but I can take a championship and then showcase what happens to a championship when you put it on a mega star. And that’s my goal is to showcase the difference between when I have a title and when everybody else has one.
