There is some more information regarding the injury that Roman Reigns suffered during the main event of WWE SummerSlam.

In the main event of SummerSlam last Saturday, Roman Reigns defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against his cousin Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat Match.

When Roman Reigns puts his title on the line, there was plenty of interference during the chaotic title defense as usual. Solo Sikoa arrived to help Reigns. When Jey managed to take out Solo by putting him through the table, Jey nearly had the match won until Jimmy Uso showed up to turn on his twin brother.

Jimmy Uso pulled Jey off the pin, superkicked Jey and Reigns finished off Jey a Spear through a table to retain his championship.

Coming out of SummerSlam, there was a report that Reigns suffered some sort of injury. Details were not known at the time, but there is some more information now.

Roman Reigns Suffered Injury Early In SummerSlam Match

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Roman was hurt early in the match.

“Reigns suffered either a hip or back injury from the tope from Jey Uso about five minutes into his main event match. You could see the way he moved and walked that he was in pain, but to his credit, unless you were looking for it you probably didn’t see it.”

The good news is the match went over 30 minutes and Reigns was able to complete it without a problem. Reigns was likely in some pain as the match went on, but he’s a professional that did his best to put on a quality performance for the fans.

It is unknown if Reigns will miss any ring time. Since he’s not expected to wrestle at the Payback and Fastlane Premium Live Events in September & October, Reigns will have some time to rest up until possible Crown Jewel in early November and Survivor Series later that month.

On Thursday, Reigns had a private signing with WWE, Fanatics & Fiterman Sports where he signed merchandise items for fans.
