Roman Reigns Berates John Cena – “He’s Levels Below Me”

Paul Heyman Roman Reigns

When you’re The Tribal Chief it must seem as if everyone comes below you in the pecking order, now Roman Reigns says his SummerSlam challenger John Cena is “levels below” him.

John Cena made his return to WWE at July’s Money In The Bank pay-per-view and made a beeline straight for Reigns after the WWE Universal Champion had dispatched Edge in the night’s main event.

Since that night the sixteen time world champion made his own luck when he was part of a scramble to sign a contract to face Roman Reigns for his title at SummerSlam. An irate Reigns could only watch on as Cena put pen to paper for the match that was originally destined for Finn Balor.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Reigns has given his forthright thoughts on Cena, and although he praises Cena for things he has achieved, Reigns makes clear that Cena is not on The Tribal Chief’s level:

“There’s a lot of good things John Cena’s done. Obviously, Make-a-Wish, very charitable, but when it comes to our profession of sports entertainment, he’s levels below me in this game. Entertainment is storytelling, right? I’m the greatest storyteller of our generation and he’s a big name, he’s a big star, he’s a movie star now, but he, like so many other greats, they camouflage themselves, they disguise themselves. You see me every Friday night.”

Although Reigns clearly believes Cena shouldn’t be sharing his spotlight, he’s generous enough to suggest that there’s still room for John Cena in WWE in a more limited capacity:

“To me, if he would have just come here, promote his movies, ‘Suicide Squad, yay! It’s a good movie. Go watch it’. You can open the show, you can pep up the crowd, do that, and then I’ll stay in the main event where I belong, and I’ll close the show and we’re done.”

Reigns and Cena will go head to head at SummerSlam for the WWE Universal Championship. Also on the show, Goldberg will challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Title. Recently the WWE Hall Of Famer has had some critical words of his own for the WWE Champion.
