ROH Champion Relinquishes Title On AEW Dynamite

AEW Dynamite stage

One of the most coveted championships from Ring of Honor is vacant after it was left in the ring on AEW Dynamite.

Samoa Joe defended the ROH TV Championship against Keith Lee on AEW Dynamite from Portland. The two powerhouses had a very physical match with a lot of incredible moves that wowed the fans who were chanting several different things during the match.

The match ended when Joe caught Keith Lee in the Coquina Clutch submission, which led to Joe taking Lee down to the mat to try to choke him out. Lee tried to fight it, but he eventually passed out so Joe got the win via submission and referee stoppage.

It was another successful title defense for Samoa Joe, who had held the ROH TV Title for a record 574 days.

After the match, Samoa Joe did a promo saying he was the greatest ROH TV Champion of all time. Joe said he was not just there to merely be your television champion. Joe said that he was officially vacating the ROH Television Championship. Joe said, “The next gold that is going to be on my shoulder will be the AEW World Championship, whether you like it or not, Max.”

Samoa Joe Recently Lost To MJF On AEW Dynamite

If Samoa Joe gets another title shot against MJF, it will be his second time challenging for the AEW World Title. At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam in New York City on September 20th, MJF successfully defended the AEW World Title against Samoa Joe. It wasn’t necessarily a clean win for MJF, but it was a victory and it was done in such a way that it made Joe want one more opportunity at the championship.

In addition to Joe wanting to face MJF for the AEW World Title, Joe has also offered to defend the ROH Tag Team Titles with MJF, but Joe wants a title shot if he does it.

As for what the vacant ROH TV TItle means for the ROH brand, AEW’s website is encouraging fans to tune into ROH on HonorClub on Thursday to find out what’s next for the championship.
