Ricochet’s AEW Job Reportedly At Risk Amid On-Going Controversy
Ricochet may be on the chopping block as far as his employment with AEW is concerned.
This latest report comes from Wrestling Observer, with Bryan Meltzer claiming that the 37-year-old might be made redundant by the end of the week.
At Revolution on Sunday, Ricochet lost his National Championship to Jack Perry in a 21-man Blackjack Battle Royal match.
Following his defeat, he crashed out and cut a promo backstage while having a full-blown meltdown. A fan commented on AEW’s X post that his acting had not improved.
The heel wrestler responded to the user by mocking their multiple sclerosis, writing, “I’m glad you got MS.”
The comment did not sit well with the fans, who called him out for being insensitive. Elsewhere, the original fan deleted their initial response.
Later, Ricochet defended himself, stating that fans often abuse him and his wife, Samantha Irvin, but when he does the same to them, they become offended.
However, on March 18, he issued a public apology while naming the fan, whose name is Sandi, and promising to be a better person.
I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently others who are effected by MS. She didnt deserve it and for that, I sincerely apologize.
Moving forward I’ll do better.
Ricochet’s AEW Job At Risk Following His Insensitive Statement
Ricochet is known for being confrontational on X with fans, who criticize him or AEW overall. This time around, however, his approach seems to have landed him in hot water with the company’s higher-ups.
Despite having issued a public apology, his job is not safe, according to Bryan Alvarez of F4W and the Wrestling Observer.
Alvarez said, “If he’s crossing his fingers, it’s hoping he’s still employed by the end of the week.“
