Ricochet has made history in WWE as the first man to win a newly introduced championship.

There has been a tournament taking place on WWE’s X/Twitter account to crown the first-ever WWE Speed Champion. In a match that was taped, Ricochet beat Johnny Gargano at the 4:21 mark to become the first-ever WWE Speed Champion.

The WWE Speed matches normally have a three-minute time limit, but for the championship match, WWE had a five-minute time limit for the match.

It was an even matchup between RIiochet & Gargano, but Ricochet managed to pick up the win after doing a cartwheel into a Cutter for the pinfall victory.

The eight men who competed in the WWE Speed tournament to crown the first champion were Johnny Gargano, Angel, Bronson Reed, Cedric Alexander, JD McDonagh, Axiom, Ricochet, and Dragon Lee.

By winning the WWE Speed Championship, Ricochet has won his third different championship on the WWE main roster. Ricochet previously held the Intercontinental and United States Titles on the main roster.

Triple H Congratulates Ricochet

In a post on Twitter/X, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque posted a photo with the customary point while complimenting Ricochet for becoming the first WWE Speed Champion.

You always remember the first to ever do it. Nobody defines “speed” like Ricochet. Congratulations to @KingRicochet on adding another title reign to his legacy and becoming the first-ever #WWESpeed Champion.

After the WWE Speed Championship match, it was announced that a #1 contender’s tournament would begin on the May 8 episode of WWE Speed.
