Ric Flair Threatens To Quit AEW Following Controversial Comments

Ric Flair AEW

Ric Flair has released a statement defending himself after a recent promo was branded “disgusting”

The Nature Boy has only been with AEW for a matter of weeks but he’s already managed to shock and offend fans across the world.

Flair appeared with Sting on both Dynamite and Rampage in Minneapolis but it is his apparent promo on Rampage that has caught the attention of many online. Flair is quoted as saying “18-28 no boyfriends, no husbands, meet me at my hotel room.”

While the comments from the 74-year-old are uncomfortable enough as it is, Ric Flair was accused of serious sexual assault by a flight attendant with those historical claims coming to prominence again as part of the Dark Side of the Ring documentary series in 2021.

Posting on social media, Flair stated he’s “earned the right to do whatever I want,” adding that he’ll walk away from AEW if Tony Khan feels he’s embarrassing the company.

I Am So Tired Of Hearing All This Negativity! I Don’t Need To Work, And I Don’t Need The Money. Can’t I Simply Enjoy Being By My Dear Friend @Sting’s Side For The Next Few Months Without So Much Hatred? I Know I’m Old, But That Doesn’t Mean I Can’t Enjoy Life! I Have Earned The Right To Do Whatever I Want & I’m Exactly Where I Want To Be! I Appreciate Everything @TonyKhan, But I’m More Than Willing To Walk Away If I Am Embarrassing You And Your Company. All I Can Say Is I’m Sorry!

When Did Ric Flair Sign With AEW?

Ric Flair officially signed with All Elite Wrestling on November 2nd, 2023, with the news coming a little over a week after he debuted on Dynamite as a gift to Sting. Flair penned a multi-year deal, with his Wooooo! Energy brand becoming the official energy drink of AEW.
