Rhea Ripley Confesses She Needs Surgery To Fix Major Injury
Rhea Ripley had one of her longest feuds with Liv Morgan.
Spanning almost three years from 2022 to 2025, the duo found themselves in each other’s crosshairs on multiple occasions.
On the April 8, 2024, episode of WWE RAW, Ripley endured a sneak attack at the hands of Morgan backstage.
While at it, Morgan shoved The Eradicator into a wall, which resulted in her sustaining a third-grade AC sprain.
Rhea Ripley discussed the freak accident, recalling her emotions at the time during an interview on Netflix’s WWE: Unreal.
I full on broke character as well in that scene. My collarbone and my shoulder blade got ripped apart. She had to kick me into the second wall, but my shoulder was already stuffed up. So, I’m, like, holding my arm. Liv gets on me and starts punching me in the shoulder, in the bad shoulder, and I was like, “Somebody please get her off me.”

Ripley also confirmed that she has yet to undergo surgery for the AC joint sprain.
At the time, it was a choice between having the surgery and sporting a scar or not having the surgery and carrying a lump in the shoulder. She chose the latter.
Ripley, who was the Women’s World Champion at the time, was forced to vacate her title on the April 15 episode of RAW, ending her 380-day reign.
Rhea Ripley Faced Physical and Mental Struggles Throughout 2024
Rhea Ripley spent three months away, returning to TV on July 8 that year to confront Morgan and Dominik Mysterio.
Nevertheless, her return was a far cry from the perfect comeback she’d imagined it to be.
Her injury-hit time not only kept her down physically, but also psychologically. During a chat with Wild World of Sports, “Mami” reflected on wrestling in 2024.
When you get injured, you learn a lot about yourself and 2024 was not very kind to me, I did a grade three AC sprain and then finally came back from that, which was so tough, not being able to do things that I love like going to the gym or holding my dogs.
It definitely was a mental struggle and also a physical struggle – training legs every single day was terrible, but I finally came back and I got to go for my world championship again and try and grab that back – but then I broke my orbital bone (eye socket).
It was just injuries flying left and right, but I learned a lot about myself in that I can pretty much overcome whatever is in my way and that’s such a strong thing to realise.
Rhea Ripley will be in action at SummerSlam in a three-way match for the Women’s World Championship, facing Iyo Sky and the current champion Naomi.
