Why 2024 Wasn’t Kind To Rhea Ripley
2024 was a major learning year for Rhea Ripley.
Although Rhea Ripley spent the first portion of 2024 carrying the Women’s World Championship, her year was far from straightforward. Despite the high points of topping the card at Elimination Chamber in her home country of Australia, she also suffered two injury-related setbacks.
During an interview with Wild World Of Sports, Ripley reflected on her injury-hit 2024. The former Women’s World Champion admitted that her struggles were as much mental as they were physical, describing her limited training as “terrible.”
“When you get injured, you learn a lot about yourself and 2024 was not very kind to me, I did a grade three AC sprain and then finally came back from that, which was so tough, not being able to do things that I love like going to the gym or holding my dogs.
It definitely was a mental struggle and also a physical struggle – training legs every single day was terrible, but I finally came back and I got to go for my world championship again and try and grab that back – but then I broke my orbital bone (eye socket).
It was just injuries flying left and right, but I learned a lot about myself in that I can pretty much overcome whatever is in my way and that’s such a strong thing to realise.”
Rhea Ripley Excited For Australian Return
On May 2, it was announced that WWE will return to Australia for shows on October 10, 11, and 13 in Perth. This will see SmackDown, Raw, and Crown Jewel: Perth all take place at the RAC Arena.
After the shows were announced, Rhea Ripley explained why getting to return to Australia was so special. The star said that while Elimination Chamber 2024 was an incredible experience, adding Raw and SmackDown to the tour makes things even more exciting.
