Huge Unfortunate Update On Chris Jericho’s AEW Future

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is rumored to leave AEW soon.

Jericho hasn’t been featured on AEW TV since losing the ROH title to Bandido back in April. His contract is reportedly scheduled to end at the end of 2025.

Word on the street is that the wrestling veteran will leave AEW after his contract expires and will return to WWE.

There is ongoing speculation that he might make his WWE comeback at Royal Rumble 2026 in Saudi Arabia or WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

Jericho himself has released a few teasers on social media, hinting that he’s preparing for a WWE return.

Given Jericho’s current status in AEW, it seems very likely that he’s on his way to WWE.

A new report from Fightful Select recently provided a significant update on The Demo God, which may upset AEW fans.

According to the report, people within the company stated that Chris Jericho is not being discussed in creative meetings.

“When we’ve asked about Chris Jericho within the company, we’ve been told that he hasn’t come up when discussing ongoing plans, Jericho usually discusses his creative directly with Tony Khan,” Fightful reported. [H/T Ringside News]

By now, the entire wrestling world is convinced that Jericho is indeed returning to WWE.

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo even pitched a new role for him, should he join the Stamford-based company.

What Should Chris Jericho’s Role Be After WWE Return?

Speaking on the Coach and Bro Show, Russo said that Triple H should make Chris Jericho in charge of both Raw and SmackDown.

Vince Russo said, “If you’re gonna bring Chris Jericho over for anything, that’s what it should be. I would put him on both shows as the “SHOWRUNNER” and let Jericho just be Jericho. Those shows would improve by leaps and bounds overnight. Overnight.”

Co-host Jonathan Coachman added, “Because he knows how to do it. Yes, he knows how to be an a**hole heel. But also a baby face.”
