Renee Paquette Discusses Possible AEW Commentary Role

Renee Paquette on commentary

Renee Paquette may now be All Elite as part of AEW but the former Raw announcer has explained if she’s likely to join the commentary team for her new company.

A popular backstage interviewer in WWE, Renee Paquette broke boundaries in WWE when she became the first woman to become a regular commentator on Monday Night Raw in 2018. That role lasted for around a year before Paquette was moved to SmackDown and began hosting WWE Backstage.

In her hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Paquette made her AEW debut on the 12th of October edition of Dynamite. She interviewed the likes of Christian Cage on the show but many are wondering what her long-term role in the company will be.

Speaking on The Sessions, Renee Paquette discussed the possibility of her joining the likes of Excalibur and Taz at the announce desk and says she won’t say no but doesn’t think it’s the thing that she loves doing:

“I shouldn’t say no. But I also feel like, I feel like anyone that just heard you say that probably had the same reaction as me is like, ‘No, thanks, we don’t need that, we don’t want that.’ And that’s always how I felt about it. Which is why I always feel like I have that really quick knee-jerk reaction because I feel like, I feel people had such a negative reaction to it.”

“And it was, you know, it just wasn’t the thing that I wanted it to be. And could it be different in different circumstances? And we all know what those circumstances are. Could it be different? Possibly.”

“I don’t know that that’s the thing that I love doing, like if the opportunity made sense and it was something that everyone was on the same page about, like, maybe, but I just don’t see that being what I want to do. I don’t know. I don’t love like, I like doing the TV stuff, I like doing the interviews. I like all of that stuff. I think like just being the voice during the entire show is just not really my thing.”
