Randy Orton’s Career To End At WWE WrestleMania 42?
Could Randy Orton be looking at a retirement match at WrestleMania 42?
Unlike Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, Orton has not discussed retirement. In fact, he just returned to action after missing the last few months of 2025, and looks in great shape while oozing his usual aura and charisma.
But what if he was forced into retirement at the upcoming WrestleMania?
Gunther Might Retire Randy Orton At WrestleMania
On a recent episode of the Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE personality Sam Roberts speculated about Orton’s imminent retirement, with the Elimination Chamber playing the role of a catalyst.
Roberts discussed the possiblity of The Viper crossing paths with Gunther, who now goes by the moniker of ‘Career Killer,’ leading to him going into The Show of Shows in a retirement match.
I still believe Gunther will be in the chamber. I believe that Randy and Gunther something will happen between the two of them because I think Randy and Gunther is that WrestleMania match. Randy is the guy who is of a certain generation that people are not talking about when it comes to Gunther being a career killer.
Every time Gunther comes up as a career killer, people talk about Rey Mysterio, Brock Lesnar, nobody talks about Randy Orton. And the idea that Randy Orton and Gunther pop up on a graphic together, I think is extremely compelling. You don’t even have to say it’s a career-threatening match.
You could just say, have Gunther say, “I’m gonna beat you, Randy, in the same way I put AJ to sleep, the same way I made John Cena tap out, I’m going to end your career. Whether you want to or not, whether you’re putting your career on the line or not, I’m going to leave you in a state that at your age, you won’t be able to continue your career.”
And I feel like that works for me for Mania. That’s what stops Gunther from winning the Chamber match. Whether it’s Gunther eliminates somebody and then catches an RKO Outta Nowhere, I mean, that’s the beauty of Randy’s move, right? The fact that Gunther can catch an RKO Outta Nowhere. [7:11 onwards]
