Prayers Up For WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes walked out of WrestleMania 42 Night One as Undisputed WWE Champion, but the cost of that retention was severe.

Cody Rhodes went head-to-head with Randy Orton in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Night 1 at Allegiant Stadium. On the Road to The Show of Shows, The Viper turned heel and aligned himself with the returning Pat McAfee, who was revealed as the mystery caller.

The American Nightmare and The Legend K*ller’s match build-up was marked by a deeply personal and controversial rivalry.

Before the match, McAfee hit Cody with a microphone, but the champ hit McAfee with a Cross Rhodes, and then Jelly Roll showed up to even the odds. He was put through a table, stretchered out, and later returned in a referee shirt to aid Randy Orton, only for The Viper to RKO him. Rhodes capitalized on the situation and hit Orton with a Cross Rhodes to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

WWE confirmed Cody Rhodes suffered an injury at WrestleMania

After the bout, a punch from The Apex Predator landed flush over Rhodes’ eye, busting him open and triggering an injury that got significantly worse before it got better.

The image of injured Rhodes is going viral on social media, showing heavy bruising across the entire left side of Rhodes’ face.

During the kickoff show of Night Two of ‘Mania, Jackie Redmond announced that Rhodes required three facial sutures and four staples in the back of his head after the match. The impact to his orbital socket was so severe that his left eye remained completely swollen shut the following morning. WWE confirmed he is not medically cleared to compete, with no timetable for his return.

I can confirm that Cody Rhodes is not medically cleared. After speaking to medical staff, I can tell you that the damage from that main event was severe. Afterwards, Rhodes needed three sutures to the face and four staples to the back of the head. As for the Punt that you just showed from Randy Orton, the impact to Cody’s orbital socket was so severe that his eye is still completely shut. So again, Rhodes is not medically cleared, and his timetable to return is up in the air.

It remains to be seen when the champ will make his return to the ring.
