Paul Heyman On Who He Sees As The 2 Best Tag Teams Of Past 2 Decades

Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman has given his opinion on two tag teams that he says could be considered the very best teams in the wrestling business in the last 20 years.

Heyman is currently aligned with Roman Reigns, acting as the WWE Universal Champion’s Special Counsel week after week on SmackDown. This position also puts Paul Heyman in league with Reigns’ cousins and current SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos.

While talking to Z100’s Josh Martinez, Heyman’s penchant for promotion may have been on show when he discussed the tag team element of The Bloodline and their rivals in recent weeks, the Street Profits.

Paul Heyman began by pointing out that the Street Profits are anything but a one-man team:

“Let’s not discount Angelo Dawkins, please. Same with Dawkins [something special about him]. If you’re not seeing it, you’re missing it. That’s why they complement each other so well. Now, Montez is the more gregarious of the two, Montez is the more vocal of the two, but Dawkins is a stud as well. They complement each other as well as any tag team I’ve ever seen in the past 20 years.”

“They are perhaps, with the exception of The Usos, the best tag team of the past 20 years. They are a magnificent combination. They are the yin to the yang, the left to the right. They are two individuals with one brain. It’s every cliché or concept or strategy or description that you can give a great tag team. They embody it.”

The Street Profits gained a win over The Usos last week on SmackDown in a non-title match even if the win came by disqualification. That however has proved enough to gain the former NXT Tag Team Champions a shot at the blue brand’s belts as WWE confirmed The Usos will defend their title against Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford on SmackDown live from Madison Square Garden.
