Pat McAfee Breaks Silence Following Randy Orton’s Betrayal At WWE WrestleMania 42
Pat McAfee returned to WWE as Randy Orton’s ally. However, at WrestleMania 42, The Viper betrayed him.
A few weeks ago, on the road to WrestleMania, McAfee was revealed as the mystery caller who inspired Orton to turn heel and attack Cody Rhodes. He framed himself as the savior of the business who had returned to save WWE, which he claimed had lost its way.
McAfee accompanied Orton in his main event match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship on Saturday. Before the bell rang, he joined Orton in a sneak attack on Rhodes.
However, Cody took Pat McAfee out with a Cross Rhodes, took him out of the ring, and placed him on the announce table. Moments later, singer Jelly Roll unexpectedly appeared and delivered a massive frog splash to McAfee through the table. The former football punter was then stretchered out of Allegiant Stadium while the crowd heavily booed him.
But that was not the last of Pat McAfee that fans saw at Mania. He returned late in the match, wearing a referee shirt and neck brace after referee Charles Robinson was knocked out. He attempted a fast count to secure a win for Orton. However, Cody kicked out.
Randy Orton Turns On Pat McAfee At WWE WrestleMania 42
Frustrated by McAfee’s inability to finish the count, Randy Orton turned on him and hit him with an RKO. Cody Rhodes capitalized on the situation to pin Orton and retain his title.
Following the brutal betrayal at WrestleMania, Pat McAfee took to Twitter to share a picture of himself wearing the referee shirt and neck brace, with disheveled hair and a battered face.

Before WrestleMania, McAfee had vowed that he would retire from professional wrestling forever if Randy Orton lost to Cody Rhodes. Therefore, following Rhodes’ victory, McAfee is now officially banished from WWE.
