Paige Makes Heartbreaking Admission After Getting Medically Cleared By WWE
Paige made a surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 42 on Saturday.
On her return day, she wrestled her first match with the company in over eight years. She replaced the injured Nikki Bella to team up with her twin sister Brie Bella in the Women’s Tag Team Championship fatal four-way match and captured the title.
Paige’s last match in WWE before her 2026 return took place on December 27, 2017. During that match, she suffered a serious neck injury, which forced her into early retirement from wrestling for nearly five years until she debuted for AEW in late 2022.
Paige Opens Up About Emotional Journey Behind WWE Return
A few days following her WWE return, Paige shared an emotional video on her Instagram account, where she revealed how stressed and anxious she was before making her return. The clip captured the moment she got the doctor’s medical approval, permitting her return to the WWE ring.
In the video, Paige also highlighted what an emotional roller coaster the past few years have been for her and got a little teary-eyed upon receiving the good news.
“Know. Yeah, I just got some great news. I am cleared to go home, back to WWE, so I’m very happy. And we got Chris over here. Had my back the entire time. But, yeah, I just, like, got overrun with emotion because I was like, it’s just been a long road for me, dude.
Just trying to get sober and, you know, putting the right people around me, and. And it’s just. Just feels good. And I was stressing out. I was like, there’s no way they’re gonna let me wrestle again. There’s no way. I was really stressed out. It’s just. Yeah, it’s great. It’s good. It’s good news. I can, like, breathe now. I was stressed. I was, like, shaking.”
