NXT Star Released While Still Injured

A former NXT UK Tag Team Champion was reportedly released from WWE while injured ahead of the brand’s imminent closure.

A number of NXT UK Superstars were let go from WWE recently following the announcement of the brand being replaced by NXT Europe in 2023. Among them were some surprising choices, including Trent Seven, Mark Andrews, and Emilia McKenzie.

However, they were all fighting fit at the time of them being cut. The same cannot be said for Andrews’ championship-winning partner in Subculture, Flash Morgan Webster.

Per Fightful Select, it’s been alleged that ‘The Modfather of Professional Wrestling’ was let go from WWE while still nursing an injury. Webster had reportedly been signed to a three-year NXT contract in 2019, which had expired prior to him being cut. He signed a new deal in 2022 to ensure he was cared for while unable to compete.

Through WWE’s relationship with PROGRESS Wrestling, Flash Morgan Webster first wrestled for WWE during WrestleMania Axxess in April 2018 and was subsequently featured in that summer’s second United Kingdom Championship Tournament. He advanced through to the semifinals, ultimately being felled by Zack Gibson.

Webster has since become a stalwart of WWE’s United Kingdom brand, holding the Tag Team Championships once alongside Mark Andrews. He made two televised appearances on the NXT and Monday Night Raw brands, but he hasn’t wrestled since the 7 October NXT UK tapings for a match aired 4 November. He lost to Rampage Brown that night.
