Notes On What Happened After WWE SmackDown Cameras Turned Off

It’s now been revealed what happens after the cameras stopped filming for Friday Night SmackDown, where John Cena competed in his first and only match of 2022.

It would have been a unique occurrence if John Cena hadn’t been involved in the final show from the blue brand of the year, it would have marked a full calendar year without competitive action – something unheard of for the former World Champion.

However, having confirmed he’d compete, Cena came up trumps when he teamed with Kevin Owens to defeat the Bloodline combination of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, and Sami Zayn.

It is now being reported by Pro Wrestling Insider that plenty happened after SmackDown went off the air. As John Cena was about to cut a promo, he was jumped by Zayn and The Usos.

The attack ended up being thwarted when Drew McIntyre, who had made his WWE return earlier in the show, and The Brawling Brutes hit the ring to chase off The Bloodline – but not before Cena managed to hit an Attitude Adjustment on Zayn.

In the end John Cena was given the opportunity to speak, where he discussed what an honour it was to compete during his 20th year in WWE. He went on to put over his fellow competitors, whilst also thanking for the fans for coming out and showing their support, giving the show the feel-good ending you would expect at the end of the year.
