Nikki Bella Addresses WWE Differences During Current Run

Nikki Bella

Nikki Bella has commented on how things are different in WWE during her current run with the company.

It was nearly 20 years ago when Nikki Bella started in WWE at a time when Vince McMahon was running the company a lot differently than how it is being run today.

During the prime of her WWE Hall of Fame career in the 2010s, Nikki Bella was the longest-reigning Divas Champion, a time when the company ditched the word “diva” and embraced women’s wrestling more than ever.

In the decade since then, WWE women have been featured more than ever and have taken part in all kinds of matches they were never part of before.

Since Nikki has been back in WWE for a few months now as a regular on the Raw brand, she recently spoke on her Nikki & Brie Show podcast about what life in WWE is like now compared to the past.

“We’re fortunate because, honestly, every era we’ve been a part of, (in our) 20s, 30s, and now me in the 40s – a lot of incredible women. So when I talk about this, I never wanna take away from so many incredible women we’ve worked with in the past.

“What’s been fun about this era is their ideas and how they’ll speak about things, as far as wrestling and hearing a whole new psychology of it.

“It’s so fun hearing the minds of people and how they work and their psychology. It’s so different than what we’re used to.

“As Divas we were trained so different. We had to make sure to get certain things in, and when you sold they wanted you to have a smile on your face. It wasn’t just fighter mode.

“But these women are trained that way. It’s very different. So it’s really cool to have these conversations – I don’t wanna give too much away – but I love it.

“I’m so into it. It’s so fun, and you get really pumped, and then it makes your creative juices flow even more.”

Nikki Bella Is Impressed By Bayley

The WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella also spoke glowingly about former Women’s Champion Bayley and her interactions with Nikki’s young son Matteo.

“When we first got there — because you know, if you want your kids to get in the ring, you gotta get there early before people start to get in there, and it was cute because Bayley was there, and so Bayley jumped in with him because I wasn’t dressed yet in my workout clothes, and Bayley got in there and was wrestling with him and it was so cute.

And then, you know, Matteo kind of demands a stage or a room so he was like, ‘Hey guys! Okay, on the count of three –’ but then he was telling Bayley, ‘Okay, now you sit’ and then kind of put her through an ab routine… It was so cute. She showed him a lockup and then he took the arm and he spinned her around but she was so cute with him. I sent her the videos this morning.

This is the one thing and I know you agree, if I was like to be like, Brie, name one person who you could define as the heart of wrestling. Would it not be her? She is not only an incredible human. So kind, happy. Just a really good person, a good soul, you feel it, you’re always around her, she’s always happy to see everyone. She’s kind to everyone.

She listens when you talk, great at communicating. But she’s just like the heart of wrestling. She really is. She loves the business, she gives back to the business, she’s a big star in the business. She’s such an incredible wrestler. She’s really big in this industry, always will be. She will leave a massive, huge light. I just love her so much. Like, truly, truly love her.”

Nikki Bella’s twin sister, Brie, has also shown interest in a WWE return, but since her husband, Bryan Danielson, works for AEW, Brie believes it’s a roadblock to her return to television.
