Nick Khan To Step In For Stephanie McMahon During Hiatus

A new report has revealed that Nick Khan will be stepping in to take over most of Stephanie McMahon’s WWE duties during her leave of absence.

On May 19th, Stephanie McMahon made the surprising announcement that she’ll be taking a leave of absence from most of her responsibilities at WWE. The reason she gave for the hiatus is that she wants to take time to focus on her family.

“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”

Now, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics has reported that WWE President Nick Khan will take over most of Stephanie McMahon’s duties while she is away.

“Nick Khan will be taking over most of Stephanie McMahon’s duties in her absence, according to multiple people at WWE. Select business partners have already been informed.”

Thurston also reported that WWE employees didn’t know that McMahon would be taking a leave of absence until she announced it publicly.

“WWE employees I’ve heard from found out about Stephanie’s leave of absence when she tweeted it.”

Fightful Select has also reported on the situation, noting that McMahon has been less involved with WWE of late, although she still remains in her current position.

Having started her on-screen career with WWE in 1999 as part of a storyline with The Undertaker, Stephanie McMahon ended up marrying Triple H both on-screen and in real life. As well as being an authority figure, McMahon stepped inside the squared circle to compete on plenty of occasions and has one reign as WWE Women’s Champion.

Behind the scenes Stephanie McMahon has held the role of Chief Brand Officer since 2013, however, her roles before that are fairly wide including being both Senior and Executive Vice-President of Creative Writing between 2006 and 2013.
