WWE has apparently learned from its mistake, and according to Nick Khan, it won’t be repeated.

This year, WrestleMania 42 was held in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, the same venue as last year. Because WrestleMania took place in the same venue for two consecutive years, WWE faced a significant problem with ticket sales.

According to WWE, the combined two-night attendance for WrestleMania 42 was 106,072, which was 19,000 fewer than the previous year’s event, which drew a combined attendance of 124,691.

Despite the noticeable drop in attendance compared to last year, it was officially announced that the event was one of the highest-grossing in the company’s history, with record performances in live gate, sponsorship, and merchandise sales.

WWE President Nick Khan Admits WrestleMania 42 Venue Decision Was A Mistake

While addressing the drop in ticket sales for WrestleMania 42 during a TKO Town Hall, Nick Khan revealed that holding the event at the same venue was “ultimately” his decision.

He stated that WWE will not make the same mistake again and will avoid hosting the same event at the same venue in back-to-back years. Khan added that despite everything, WrestleMania 42 still ended up being a successful event.

“That was ultimately my decision. Maybe we don’t do that one again in terms of back-to-back, but ultimately it ended up being a successful event.” [H/T POST Wrestling]

Elsewhere in the discussion, Khan also spoke about WWE holding Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 27. He stated that the company is closely monitoring the situation in the region and will only move forward with its scheduled plans if the talent is allowed into the country and can perform safely there.

“We’re only going if it’s safe or if we’re allowed there. We are monitoring with our heads of security internally and with our government affairs folks externally, the situation there.

If U.S. citizens are allowed in at this moment in time, it is declared and deemed safe, we’ll all be going there. Saudi is deeply desirous of getting WWE back there and getting events restarted, especially those that come from the United States.” [H/T POST Wrestling]
