New WWE Tournament Announced On SmackDown

Logan Paul WWE US Champion

Tournaments are alive and well in pro wrestling and now WWE has got in on the act again with a new 8-man competition to find a new number one contender for the US Championship.

The Continental Classic is well and truly underway in AEW with Tony Khan looking to crown a new American Triple Crown winner in his round-robin tournament. New Japan Pro Wrestling is also in tournament mode as the promotion is currently in the middle of the World Tag League with the winners getting a shot at the IWGP Tag Team Championship at Wrestle Kingdom on January 4th.

Now WWE is getting in on the act with Logan Paul announcing that he and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis have come up with a new eight-man tournament to find Paul’s first challenger for his gold.

Eight Men Get Chance At Logan Paul’s WWE US Title

On SmackDown in New York City, Paul announced seven of the competitors taking part and revealed the eighth spot would be filled by an as-yet-unnamed NXT star. Austin Theory, Dragon Lee, Grayson Waller, Kevin Owens, Santos Escobar, Karrion Kross, and Bobby Lashley will all be part of the tournament with the action getting underway on the 8th of December SmackDown Tribute To The Troops Show.

That show will see Dragon Lee taking on Santos Escobar and Bobby Lashley taking on Karrion Kross. The final two matches between the other four competitors have yet to be announced.
