MJF Makes Major AEW Career Announcement
There’s one thing fans shouldn’t expect to see MJF doing ever again in AEW.
MJF reclaimed the AEW Men’s World Championship back at Worlds End when he pinned the reigning champion Samoa Joe in a four-way title match, which also included Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland.
Since then, he has retained that title against Bandido and Brody King, but will have nowhere to run at Revolution when he’s forced to put the gold on the line in a one-on-one match against Page.
AEW has long been a company where partnerships are at the forefront, whether that be seen in The Elite, The Conglomeration, The Hurt Syndicate, Triangle of Madness, Death Riders, and that’s just some of the groups still active. But don’t expect to see MJF in a faction ever again.
MJF tricked Chris Jericho when he joined the Inner Circle before revealing his true intention as The Pinnacle – MJF, FTR, Wardlow, Shawn Spears, and Tully Blanchard – was born. The Salt of the Earth famously formed a firm friendship with Adam Cole, leading to the main event of one of the biggest shows of all time, All In 2023. The two men went to war that night but walked out with each other in a true symbol of friendship.
Ultimately, Cole screwed MJF out of his first reign as AEW World Champion, ending that feel-good story. The Long Island native then had a stint in The Hurt Syndicate, but it soon fizzled out on-screen as apparent unhappiness behind-the-scenes from some members of the group led to that story being aborted.
MJF Vows To Go It Alone
Given all that history, it’s perhaps no surprise that when speaking with Self Made Pro, MJF ruled out ever becoming part of a faction in AEW ever again:
I don’t think I ever want to be in a stable ever again. I think what makes me special is the fact that I’m one of the few people in All Elite Wrestling that can stand ten toes down alone by himself and be the most interesting act on the show. I don’t need to rely on others.
