MJF Names His Best 5 AEW Matches; CM Punk Mentioned

MJF puts on AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring

MJF has named some of the best matches of his AEW career so far.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman is a 2-time AEW World Champion who is the youngest champion in company history, he’s had the longest World Title reign in company history, and he’s the current champion as well.

As an AEW original who has been with the company since it launched in January 2019, MJF has had an incredible run that could lead some fans to think he’s the greatest AEW wrestler of all time.

During a recent interview with Insight’s Chris Van Vliet, MJF was asked to name the greatest matches in his AEW career so far, and he included a famous match he had with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk.

“Bryan Danielson, Iron Man match. CM Punk, dog collar match, I’m gonna throw MJF versus Hangman at Revolution. I believe that was last year. Darby versus me Full Gear, we were the opening match. This is where it gets hard. I will throw in the Mistico match as well.

We can do this all day. I can do a top 50, because I’ve had it. But I think those are the ones that, when people think about my career, that’ll come up. The match against Kenny Omega on Collision also. These things can be swapped and switched. The match against Samoa Joe at Grand Slam was insanity.

My match with Adam Cole in front of 82,000 people, we pretty much broke the sound barrier that night. It was absurd. It was the loudest I’ve ever [heard], my ears hurt. Both of my matches with Will Ospreay.

But the difference between me and somebody you ask this question to, I get frustrated naming these matches because I didn’t win all of them. Sure, they were great and they were entertaining, but I didn’t win all of them, and that p*sses me off. I won a good amount of them that I said, but not all of them.”

MJF Defending AEW World Title At Grand Slam Australia

The last match MJF had on AEW Dynamite was on February 4th, when he lost a non-title to Brody King in about one minute. The champion was distracted by “Hangman” Adam Page on the ramp, which allowed King to attack and finish off Max easily.

Because of that win, King will get an AEW World Title match against Friedman at the AEW Grand Slam Australia event taking place on Saturday, February 14th, and airing in the Collision timeslot on TNT in the US.
