Conor McGregor Heading To WWE After Disrespecting Roman Reigns?
Conor McGregor continues to remain a thorn in the side of WWE superstars.
The Irish MMA legend has had a long-standing history of insulting professional wrestling and its representatives. It has led to tensions flaring up between both parties, constantly taking jabs at each other during interviews or on social media.
Following his earlier comments, where McGregor had called the WWE roster “absolute dweebs,” several wrestlers condemned him. In 2021, Big E was asked about McGregor’s disparaging remarks, leading to the former Universal Champion stating that “not all wrestlers would welcome him in the locker room.”
McGregor took another shot recently, this time at one of the top stars in the company, Roman Reigns.
Reigns attended the recently concluded UFC 250 Freedom event, which took place on June 14 at the White House in Washington, DC, in honor of America’s upcoming 250th birthday on July 4th.
As part of its marketing strategy, the TKO Group shared a photo of the WWE World Heavyweight Champion on its X account, captioning it “The OTC at the White House!” In a naturally heelish fashion, McGregor posted a one-word response, simply writing “Who?”
While some fans of the Stamford promotion and UFC might speculate about a possible crossover, that does not seem to be the case here.
Despite Conor McGregor’s jab at Reigns, there have been no reports of him making an appearance on Raw anytime soon.
McGregor spoke to Adam’s Apple, where he was asked about a potential future in WWE. The former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion said that he did not intend to, but clarified that the Stamford promotion and UFC might have missed a crossover opportunity at UFC Freedom 250.
I don’t know, bro—don’t know. They’re going to platform their own combatants and, you know, put them next to these guys, put them next to our guys, let it be seen by the public, and then we’d actually have something to look forward to on our side—bouts to look forward to. But remember, these guys cash in here and there, etc., etc.—that builds the story. [H/T: Ringside News]
Roman Reigns Welcomes New Member To The Bloodline On WWE Raw
After his victory over CM Punk at WrestleMania 42, Roman Reigns became the WWE World Heavyweight Champion for the first time. It was his 7th overall world title in the company.
He subsequently entered into a feud with his cousin Jacob Fatu, setting up two clashes, one each at Backlash and Clash in Italy.
Reigns managed to win both bouts to continue his run as the brand’s champion. His victory at Clash in Italy meant that Fatu would have to acknowledge him as his Tribal Chief, which The Samoan Werewolf did.
However, things have not been hunky-dory between all members of The Bloodline.
The Usos (Jey & Jimmy) have failed to earn the respect of Fatu, which has been bugging them. This tension escalated on the June 15 edition of Raw when Reigns officially welcomed Fatu into The Bloodline by presenting him with an Ula Fala.
Later in the show, both Reigns and Fatu were spotted scheming, as The Usos were nowhere to be seen.
