Major Update On Seth Rollins’ WWE In-Ring Return
Seth Rollins could be making his WWE return at the perfect time.
At the WWE Crown Jewel PLE in Australia last October, the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins beat the WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in a match to win the “coveted” Crown Jewel Championship.
While Rollins got a big win in the match, he also suffered a serious injury when he did a Coast to Coast headbutt across the ring and landed hard on his left shoulder.
Due to the injury, Rollins was attacked by his allies in The Vision and stripped of the World Heavyweight Title. Rollins would go on to have surgery to repair his left torn rotator cuff, and the estimated time of recovery is right around five or six months.
At the Royal Rumble, Bron Breakker, who is part of The Vision group that attacked Rollins when he was hurt, was attacked by a mystery assailant whose face was covered by a mask of sorts. That assailant gave Breakker a move that Rollins uses as a finishing move – The Stomp. While it likely wasn’t Rollins at the Rumble, fans quickly theorized that it was done to tease Seth’s return against Breakker at the biggest show of the year, WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas on April 18 & 19.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote that WWE is planning a Seth Rollins-Bron Breakker match at WrestleMania 42.
“Right now the belief is Rollins will be ready for Mania and face Breakker in a singles match, since it was Breakker who did the storyline injury after Rollins suffered a shoulder injury, believed to be a torn rotator cuff, that required surgery, from a bad landing doing a coast-to-cost head-butt spot in the champion vs. champion match with Rhodes at Crown Jewel in Perth on 10/11.
That match has been confirmed to be on the schedule for the show.”
It was also reported by Bodyslam that WWE expected Rollins back in the ring at WrestleMania 42, which is why the angle was done at the Royal Rumble.
Paul Heyman Doesn’t Think Seth Rollins Should Change In-Ring Styles
During his six-month run leading The Vision, the 6-time WWE World Champion Seth Rollins was joined by the WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman.
After wrestling for the past 20 years, Rollins has beaten up his body and had major surgeries on his knees and shoulders. However, in Heyman’s opinion, Rollins doesn’t need to change what he’s doing.
“No. He’s balls to the wall. I once heard someone describe Bon Scott, who was the original lead singer for ACDC. in that Bon Scott sung every single note as if it were to be his last, and Seth Rollins wrestles every single match as if it were to be his last.
He truly leaves it all in the ring, and if I were to sit here and say, well, he needs to adopt a safer style. Well, he needs to be cognizant to the fact that he’s lost more time to injury than he would have liked, then I’m asking him to scale back.
Then I’m asking him to do less. Then I’m asking him not to employ the type of style that has made him Seth freakin’ Rollins. When you see Seth Rollins, it’s something special because you never know if it’s his last match because he’s willing to wrestle as if it is.”
During his time away from the ring, Rollins stayed busy by doing plenty of media interviews for WWE Unreal on Netflix and also appearing on NFL Network talking football.
