Long Reigning WWE Champion Loses Title On NXT Tonight

The hunt for championship gold continued on WWE NXT tonight after the opening match of the night saw the Tag Team Championships change hands.

The Vanity Project took on the champions, DarkState, in the first match of the night, and with some help from Tony D’Angelo, they are now the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

The second title match on the show saw Jasper Troy defend his WWE Speed Championship in a first-ever triple threat match for the title. He took on Elio LeFleur and Eli Knight in a seven-minute match.

WWE Speed Championship changes hands on NXT

Both LeFleur and Knight pushed each other to their limit in their number one contender’s match last week, and Robert Stone rewarded them with tonight’s title match.

They worked together to take Troy out as they sent him through to the steel steps before having a mini-match of their own. Troy returned following a quick recovery and began wreaking havoc once again.

He looked to retain his title once again, but a new champion was in store for the fans. He performed a head scissors takedown on Troy before Knight hit the moonsault on Jasper, but LeFluer steals the pin and becomes the new WWE Speed Champion.
