LA Knight Hits Back At The Rock For Taking Undeserved Credit

LA Knight has reacted to something that The Rock said recently about making wrestling “cool” again.

The 40th edition of WrestleMania takes place on April 6th and April 7th in Philadelphia. One of the big matches at the show that was confirmed on WWE Smackdown in Memphis is a showdown between rising star LA Knight and former WWE Champion AJ Styles as they try to settle their issues that have existed for several months.

For the past year, LA Knight has gone from being a heel that wasn’t even booked for a match at WrestleMania 39 to one of the most popular stars in all of WWE.

While Knight has yet to hold a championship in WWE, he has challenged Roman Reigns twice for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. It seems like only a matter of time until LA Knight wins some gold of his own.

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, LA Knight addressed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s return to WWE while making it clear that the company was doing very well before The Rock appeared to build toward a huge WrestleMania 40 tag team match with Rock & Reigns teaming up against Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins.

“It depends how they are coming into the fold and what they’re doing. In this regard, you look at it both ways. You’re looking at one of the most recognizable faces in the world as far as television, movies, media in general. There is something to be added there. At the same time, you do have to look at your audience and say, ‘we’re moving in this direction. The audience wants this. Now, to do this, it’s going to look self-serving. It’s going to probably peeve a lot of people.'”

“There are a lot of different ways to look at it. My personal opinion, without going too deep into it, is that there is some merit to having him there and at the same time, we were doing very well selling out and all that stuff even without him. He can only add to it or I guess some people could say he could take away from it. You never know. As far as business is concerned, business is good. It’s good with him, it’s good without him.”

LA Knight Says Wrestling Was Cool Again Before The Rock Came Back

As he continued, LA Knight referenced The Rock saying that wrestling was cool again and made sure that people understood it was cool before The Rock came back.

“I hear him say wrestling is cool again, and he’s right, but I want to make sure everybody knows it started getting cool again six or seven months before he got there. I’m not saying he can’t add to that cool factor or that he won’t. I’m just saying, wrestling is cool again, and wrestling was cool again before he came back. I don’t want it to seem like all of a sudden it happened because of him. Nah nah.”

The Rock is set to appear on WWE TV again on the April 1st edition of Raw in Brooklyn. The Rock appeared on Smackdown for three straight weeks in March.
