Kurt Angle Reveals Scrapped WWE Elimination Chamber Plans

Kurt Angle smiles at the crowd

Kurt Angle has confirmed that he was set to be part of a match at WWE Elimination Chamber before the company nixed the plans.

WWE Elimination Chamber took place for the first time ever in Saudi Arabia and featured two Chamber matches on the show. Bianca Belair emerged victorious from the women’s bout to earn a Raw Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 38.

In the men’s Elimination Chamber, Brock Lesnar destroyed everyone in his path on the way to becoming a seven-time WWE Champion. Bobby Lashley was taken out of the match before he could even join it after Seth Rollins threw Austin Theory through his pod. It was later revealed that the now-former champion was written out as he requires shoulder surgery.

Now, Kurt Angle has revealed on his eponymous podcast that he was originally part of plans for the event, saying he would have been the special referee for a match between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy.

“There are a lot of rumors going around that I was supposed to be booked for Wrestlemania 38, which is not true at all. If you saw the posts, a lot of people thought that I was talking about WrestleMania when I was talking about what I was going to do at the Royal Rumble and have the program for a few weeks. Then the blow-off would be in Saudi Arabia, where I would referee the match between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy.”

“So I am not signed with WWE by any means. We didn’t cut a deal. That whole program got cancelled at the last second. So it never happened. It’s unfortunate, but you know, sometimes they have different plans for these guys. So there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Out of the two tag teams, Riddle was the only man to take part in the show as he was one of the six men to enter the Elimination Chamber.
