Kofi Kingston Shares What Was Important In The New Day’s Development

The New Day

The New Day trio has been a very successful group in WWE and now Kofi Kingston is sharing a reason why they became so successful.

Kofi Kingston and The New Day have been a part of WWE since 2014 and they have been together ever since. Kingston is joined by Big E and Xavier Woods. They accomplished a lot together as a group while Kingston & Big E are also former WWE Champions and Woods is a former King of the Ring.

While the group was originally going to be a babyface trio, they ended up starting off as heels. It was in 2016 at WrestleMania 32 when they became babyfaces (making their entrance out of a giant cereal box) and they have been good guys ever since.

During a recent interview with Wrestlerant Radio, Kofi talked about the days before the group was getting a lot of TV time and how live events really helped them grow together:

“Everything that we have done on TV started at a live event, whether it be on the road traveling in the car or just doing random stuff in the ring. Literally everything. We usually go out there and we try to entertain each other, and then when something like that works, we’re like, ‘people are gonna like it. Well, let’s see if they like it this time. Oh, they like it here. Let’s bring it on TV and see if they like it there too.'”

“Being on the road and having these live events was integral to the chemistry and development of me, Woods, and E. We were very fortunate to be able to travel every single week and have matches with each other. This is before anything was televised, and just to kind of like foster that chemistry and really fine-tune it so by the time that we were able to debut on TV.”
