Huge Kenny Omega Rematch Announced For AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door PPV

Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega will face a very familiar opponent at the AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

New Japan held a four-man tournament to determine the next challenger for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship held by AEW’s Kenny Omega, who is also a former IWGP World Champion and AEW World Champion.

The first-round matches saw Lance Archer beat Fred Rosser (former Darren Young in WWE) and Will Ospreay beat Hiroshi Tanahashi. That meant that Archer would face Ospreay in the finals.

That Archer-Ospreay match took place earlier today, June 4th, at the NJPW Dominion pay-per-view in Osaka, Japan.

Archer, the bigger man, dominated much of his match with Ospreay. However, Ospreay managed to use his speed and incredible technique to come back. Ospreay hit his Hidden Blade move four times in the match to finally put Archer away.

Thanks to Ospreay’s win, he’ll go on to face the IWGP US Champion Kenny Omega at the AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view that is in Toronto, which means it is in Omega’s home country of Canada.

For Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay, it will be a rematch of their Wrestle Kingdom 17 match from January that many people consider one of the best matches of this year and some people even rate as one of the best matches in the career of both men.

After his victory, Will Ospreay delivered a quick promo with a warning shot for Omega.

“Kenny Omega, I’m the guy you left covered in my own blood at the Tokyo Dome. You should’ve killed me when you had the chance. I’m back for revenge.”

“I will walk into your territory, I will walk into Canada. Ospreay v Canada. I’m bringing back the IWGP United States Title.”

In addition to Omega-Ospreay taking place again, a dream match will also happen at Forbidden Door with Bryan Danielson facing Kazuchika Okada.
