When it comes to the MVP of AEW, Kenny Omega is picking another top star other than himself.

In 2019 when All Elite Wrestling launched, a lot of wrestling fans were excited about getting the chance to see the former IWGP World Champion Kenny Omega on a weekly wrestling television show. Since he was not in WWE or even Impact for a long time, it wasn’t something we were used to.

It was four years ago this month when Omega faced Chris Jericho at Double or Nothing 2019. After the match was over, Jon Moxley made his AEW debut by attacking both men while targeting Omega specifically.

While the on-screen rivalry between Kenny Omega did cool down over the last year, it is back in the forefront as Omega’s group The Elite has been dealing with Moxley’s group the Blackpool Combat Club. All of it will lead to Omega facing Moxley this Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite in a Steel Cage Match.

Kenny Omega was interviewed by Sports Illustrated and he said that Moxley, the only three-time AEW World Champion, has been the company’s MVP (aka Most Valuable Player in the world of sports).

“There is a mutual respect. We respect where we’ve been, what we’re trying to do and where we’re going.”

“If I’m being honest, the MVP of AEW hasn’t been me. It’s Jon Moxley.”

Omega, who is a former AEW World Champion, Tag Team Champion and Trios Tag Team Champion, continued to praise Moxley.

“For AEW, Jon’s been the one. He’s been at almost every show. He’s bled at almost every show. There is no one higher on the blood-giving list. Maybe that’s what makes this feud so interesting. It’s someone with the notoriety from Japan against someone who was a top player from WWE. And Jon hasn’t stopped working. I was injured, but now that I’m healed up, it’s beautiful that we can restart the song and dance between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley.”

As for Jon Moxley, he believes the current Elite-BCC feud is the “apex of pro wrestling” right now.
