The rivalry between The Elite and the Blackpool Combat Club has one of the AEW’s top stars believing it’s the “absolute apex of pro wrestling” right now.

Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega have been AEW rivals since the time Moxley arrived at Double or Nothing 2019 four years ago. Since then, both men have been AEW World Champions (Omega won the title from Moxley) and now they are feuding again while part of two major stables in the company.

The Elite consists of the former Trios Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) along with friends like Brandon Cutler, Michael Nakazawa and Omega’s manager Don Callis. They have also been joined recently by rising AEW star Konosuke Takeshita as part of this storyline.

Meanwhile, the Blackpool Combat Club consists of the former three-time AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, the ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta.

This coming Wednesday on AEW Dynamite in Detroit, Moxley and Omega will meet one more time in a Steel Cage Match.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso for Sports Illustrated, Jon Moxley opened up about the greatness of the BCC vs. Elite rivalry.

“Gearing up with the BCC for this war against The Elite, I’m so excited I can do this now that I have my s— straight. I don’t care what obstacles are in front of me. By sheer force of will, I’m going to squeeze every single drop of potential out of myself that I can. Anyone who stands in the way can get f—ed. I’m not going to sit idly and let time go by. I’m going to completely realize the best version of Jon Moxley, whatever that is.”

Moxley would go on to talk about what he has in common with Omega as performers.

“Another thing me and Kenny have in common is that no matter how our bodies feel, when people give us their time and money, we put it all on the line. We just don’t know any other way to do it.”

“The BCC vs. The Elite, this rivalry is the absolute apex of professional wrestling right now. We’re going to have a great crowd and we have the steel cage. It’s got all the ingredients for a really memorable night.”
