Jon Moxley Makes Triumphant Return To AEW Dynamite

Jon Moxley on the mic

Jon Moxley has made his long-awaited return to AEW Dynamite, putting the pro wrestling world on notice.

The January 19th edition of Dynamite was already set to feature a stacked card, but the day before the show aired, excitement levels went through the roof when it was announced that Jon Moxley would finally be returning.

Fans didn’t wait to have to wait long to see Moxley as the former AEW World Champion opened the show. As ‘Wild Thing’ was heard around the arena, fans rose to give the returning hero a standing ovation.

The former IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion got straight down to business as he opened up about the real-life struggles he had gone through in recent months.

Moxley thanked fans for sticking by him, saying that the scars on the inside are what make us what we are, and no one should be ashamed. He went on to explain that he doesn’t run from his demons, and instead “beats the sh*t” out of them. He then promised to take professional wrestling “by the balls”, saying that “now more than ever, he’s truly free.”

Moxley closed by saying that he’d been through hell, not that he’d recommend it, but he’s back, he’s thirsty and he’s dangerous, but these days all he drinks is blood.

AEW later confirmed that Moxley will be back in the ring on the January 21st episode of Rampage when he takes on Ethan Page.

This was Moxley’s first appearance on AEW Dynamite since October 27th when he defeated the Ten of The Dark Order in the Quarter Finals of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament.

On November 3rd, AEW President Tony Khan announced that Moxley was taking time away from the ring to enter an inpatient alcohol treatment program.

Jon Moxley’s return to AEW comes after it was recently confirmed that he would be headlining at The Wrld on GCW on January 23rd at the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom. At the show, Moxley will defend his GCW World Championship against Homicide.
