Jon Moxley Set To Return To Action In January

Jon Moxley poses in the ring

Jon Moxley will return to action for the first time since October when he steps back in the ring on January 23rd.

AEW President Tony Khan announced in November that Jon Moxley was entering an outpatient alcohol treatment program. In the statement, Khan said that Moxley had made a “brave” decision and the company would support him in any way they could.

The news came just days after Moxley had defeated Jimmy Jacobs at REVOLVER Tales From The Ring 4 in what was to be his last bout for almost three months.

Now, it has now been revealed that Moxley will have his comeback match on January 23rd at The Wrld on GCW. The event, which is to be held at the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom, will see Moxley defend his GCW World Championship against Homicide.

When Moxley was last seen in AEW, he was in the midst of competing in the World Title Eliminator tournament. After defeating The Dark Order’s Ten, the former World Champion was next scheduled to face Orange Cassidy in the semi-finals. After the news broke that he would be stepping away from the ring, he was replaced by Miro who decimated Cassidy, but then fell to Bryan Danielson in the final at Full Gear.

Over the following weeks, Danielson clashed with AEW Champion Hangman Adam Page twice. The first match went to a time-limit draw, but Page emerged from the second with his Championship intact.

Jon Moxley’s most recent match in GCW took place on October 9th and saw him defeat Nick Gage in his first defence of the GCW World Championship.

At time of writing, it is still not known when Moxley will make his return to AEW.
