John Cena’s Ex-WWE Rival Reveals Retirement Plans
A 47-year-old former WWE star has opened up about his retirement plans.
Carlito debuted in the Stamford-based promotion in 2004 after spending nearly a year in developmental. He had a six-year run on the main roster, during which he feuded with John Cena, before he was released in 2010 due to a violation of the WWE Wellness Program.
After 11 years, Carlito made his comeback in 2021. He initially joined Rey Mysterio’s LWO faction before turning on the group. He later became a member of another faction, The Judgment Day.
The former United States Champion’s second stint ended last June as he departed the company after his contract expired.
Ex-WWE Star Carlito Plans On Retiring After 5 Years
Since his WWE exit, Carlito has been active on the independent circuit. Meanwhile, the 47-year-old recently addressed his retirement plans in an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight.
The former Judgment Day member admitted that he is currently focused on his “exit plan.”
Oh yeah, I’m getting there. I still got a little bit left in the tank. Not that I don’t want to do it anymore, just focusing more on the exit plan.
When asked what his “exit plan” looked like, he admitted that his WWE run helped a lot with it, noting that he would wrestle for a few more years before hanging up his boots.
It looks pretty good, man. The WWE run helped out a lot with that, with the retirement plan. So, yeah, a couple more years, and then I can ride off into the sunset.
The former United States Champion then explained that his plan would see him compete for five more years.
No, probably around 5. 5 should be the goal. [H/T: Chris Van Vliet]
