John Cena Called Out By Former WWE Rival For One More Match

A former WrestleMania opponent of John Cena wants one more match before Cena’s retirement tour comes to an end.

There are just over four months left in John Cena’s retirement tour, which means that the former 17-time WWE Champion only has a handful of matches left in his career.

John Cena stated over a year ago that he was going to retire as a WWE superstar at the end of 2025. Throughout the year, Cena has faced off against some new opponents, but also some familiar names like R-Truth, Randy Orton, CM Punk, and Cody Rhodes, among others.

Many wrestlers likely want to have one more match with Cena or perhaps even a first-ever matchup, as many people consider Cena to be one of the greatest WWE superstars ever.

Over his 20+ years in WWE, John Cena faced off against The Miz many times, especially in the early 2010s. The two men faced off in the WrestleMania 27 main event in 2011, where The Rock played a role in helping Miz get the win. While that match is never going to be remembered as a classic, it is something that Miz has bragged about many times in the last 14 years.

The Miz had John Cena on his mind when he hosted The Rich Eisen Show this week, and Miz made it clear he wants to face Cena again before Cena retires.

“We have a PLE coming up, Clash in Paris, in two Saturdays, where we have John Cena, who’s on a farewell tour by the way. After this, we’re not going to see him inside the ring anymore. He has like ten dates left. I’m not sure how many matches he has. I want to put my name in the hat.

I want one last match against John Cena. Not sure that’s gonna happen. Logan Paul is getting that opportunity at Clash in Paris. I don’t know what’s gonna happen, but it’s definitely going to be an entertaining match.”

John Cena Has Praised The Miz Heavily In The Past

After working with The Miz in a 2023 segment, John Cena praised his former on-screen rival in a major way.

“I have a lot of mutual respect for The Miz. I think he’s one of the most underrated WWE superstars in history.”

During an A&E Biography Legends documentary about The Miz, Cena also had nice words to say about the former WWE Champion.

“He’s the most, not one of the most, the most underrated WWE superstar in the history of the business.”

As The Miz mentioned, John Cena’s next WWE PLE match will be against Logan Paul at Clash in Paris on August 31st.
