Jim Cornette Slams Recent WWE SmackDown Segment

The WWE on-screen product may have improved under Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque’s booking, but Jim Cornette wasn’t sold on one particular segment.

Since taking over WWE creative, Triple H has drastically changed the fan perception towards the company. What was once a dreaded Monday night of sports entertainment is now anticipated, with longer matches, a focus on key talent, and an improved emphasis on secondary championships cited as the biggest changes.

Over on SmackDown, though, Jim Cornette is struggling to get his around a recent segment from the 16 September broadcast, as Braun Strowman laid out Maximum Male Models before being bodyslammed by Otis. Speaking on his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the acclaimed wrestling personality named everyone involved as moronic:

“Oh God, the Dupris were in the ring. Max Dupri and his sister, her lung lumps were hanging out. But I just couldn’t, when I saw ma.çé and mån.sôör come out. I’m like, ‘I can’t do this’, and as I’m about to hit the fast forward [button] here comes Braun Strowman. I know he came back last week but we didn’t watch it. But he’s back and he comes out and kills the models, just beats both of them up, bounces them off the railing, Powerbombed one, milked the crowd, I’m back, I’m back.

And then here comes Chad Gable. Now what the f*ck? I guess they’re just feeding him insignificant people. They probably wanted to get rid of the models. Maybe they’ve written that off because nobody’s gonna ever take them seriously anyway and especially not now. But I guess they’re feeding Gable and Otis, whatever.

Anyway, Gable comes out while Braun’s looking at Gable, Otis attacks Strowman from behind, he just kind of nails him from behind, Strowman turns around and looks at him and then beats Otis up and then beats Chad up a bit. But then Otis comes back and picks Braun Strowman up and slams him, and they leave and then Strowman gets back up and dares him to come back in the ring and slam him again, which Chad won’t let him.

So this went from okay, they’re feeding the new giant that’s just returned insignificant people so he can beat them up to one of the insignificant people has body slammed Braun Strowman on TV two weeks after he gets back. So thanks, [Big] John Stud is calling Braun. He got five years out of milk and people trying to body slam him, and never had to take a f*cking bump. You f*cking moron. Whoever produced this is a moron, Braun Strowman is a moron, anybody that signed off on this is a moron.”

Braun Strowman is scheduled to face Otis on tonight’s (23 September) broadcast of Friday Night SmackDown, which will mark the first WWE encounter for ‘The Monster Among Men’ since WrestleMania Backlash in May 2021.
