Jey Uso Discloses True Feelings About Iconic Moment With John Cena

Jey Uso recently opened up about his big-time Royal Rumble moment from last year involving John Cena.

WWE Legend John Cena retired last year after his loss to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th 2025.

The final match was the exclamation point of a year-long retirement tour, which kicked off in January of last year around the Royal Rumble.

Jey Uso was the winner of last year’s Men’s Royal Rumble match. After entering at number 20, he last eliminated John Cena to win the 30-man bout after Cena had entered at number 23.

The two shared a hug afterwards, a display of mutual respect, creating an iconic moment.

Speaking on ESPN’s SportsCenter ahead of Royal Rumble 2026, in which he will be participating, Jey Uso was asked by one of the hosts bout his feelings on eliminating John Cena in the 2025 Rumble match and winning it.

Uso responds by saying that he was “fangirling” too, as he is a fan of Cena.

Man, I was, I mean, lowkey fangirling too. I’m still a big fan of the guys in there.

John Cena’s been around my family since my dad was in the game, so being the last two in there in the Royal Rumble with John Cena is just..like a kid again. Fire.

Jey is currently one-half of the World Tag Team Champions with his brother Jimmy Uso.
