Jelly Roll Wanted To Be Part Of Different WWE Feud; Not Cody Rhodes Vs. Randy Orton
It’s no secret that Jelly Roll is a fan of WWE and professional wrestling, in general.
The Grammy Award-winning artist has made multiple appearances on television for the Stamford promotion and has previously been featured in storylines, too.
At the 2024 SummerSlam, he attended the show as a performer but was later seen delivering a chokeslam to Austin Theory.
He returned in July 2025, making appearances on SmackDown alongside Randy Orton, kick-starting a feud with Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre. The feud culminated in a celebrity match at SummerSlam 2025, where Jelly was pinned by Paul.
On the March 28, 2026, taping of SmackDown, Jelly Roll competed in his first singles match, picking up a victory against Kit Wilson.
Later on the show, he interjected himself in a brawl between Randy Orton, who had turned heel, and the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. The segment ended with Orton hitting an RKO on Jelly, leaving everyone stunned.
Jelly Roll Did Not Want To Be Part Of Randy Orton-Cody Rhodes Feud
An interesting story about Jelly Roll has emerged, which reveals his knowledge about the influence of different WWE feuds.
The Randy Orton-Cody Rhodes feud was one of the best rivalries leading up to WrestleMania 42. While the storyline carried tremendous value by itself, WWE decided to introduce Pat McAfee into it, drawing the ire of wrestling fans.
While Jelly Roll was briefly involved in it, it turns out that he did not want any part in it.
With AEW’s Swerve Strickland as a guest on his podcast, Bootleg Kev discussed Jelly’s involvement in the Rhodes-Orton storyline, revealing that the singer preferred another gimmick over it.
I’m really close to Jelly Roll. He was very self-aware that he was being pushed into a storyline that he probably didn’t need to be pushed into. He was pushing – he was being very vocal about wanting to be involved in a storyline that is still playing out currently that was more comedic. He was like, ‘Guys, if you put me into this thing, I promise you it’s going to cook. It’s going to f*ck.’ I was there at SmackDown in Phoenix and I heard him having these convos with certain people at WWE.
They still decided to – and look, if you’re him, you’re like, ‘Hey man, if you’re going to push me into the main event of WrestleMania, I’m not going to say no.’ But, I don’t think people are going to [like it]. [H/T: Cultaholic Wrestling]
Jelly Might Have Been Interested In The Danhausen Storyline
Danhausen has been a revelation despite having a poor WWE debut at Elimination Chamber.
His appearances have seen him cursing talents left and right, putting them in a spot of bother, regardless of whether or not they believe in curses.
There were also reports that Jelly might be featured alongside Danhausen in the latter’s storyline with The Miz and Kit Wilson. Bryan Alvarez also wrote in a Wrestling Observer Newsletter that he could be Danhausen’s tag partner at Backlash.
However, his partner was revealed to be Minihausen, fka El Torito, at the PLE on May 9.
