Mick Foley made his much-awaited AEW debut at Double Or Nothing on Sunday.

A few days before the pay-per-view, Tony Khan confirmed that the WWE Hall of Famer was All Elite, which Foley himself confirmed via an Instagram post.

Before joining the Jacksonville-based wrestling promotion, the 60-year-old was associated with WWE through a Legends contract.

In December last year, Mick Foley lashed out at World Wrestling Entertainment for its growing relationship with the United States President Donald Trump.

Foley’s statement came at a time when news of inhumane treatment against the immigrants was being regularly reported. He also called Trump’s post about the recently deceased US filmmaker Rob Reiner insensitive.

Mick Foley was further critical about the lack of voices in WWE against the Trump administration, stating that he would not appear in the company till the time Trump was no longer the country’s president. He then said that he would not be renewing his Legends contract, which is set to expire in June.

Mick Foley To Not Attend AEW Dynamite Taping

Even before Mick Foley made his first AEW appearance, fans began speculating about the capacity in which he would be presented.

Sometime last year, there were reports of him wrestling in a retirement match against MJF, which was ultimately called off after he suffered a concussion while training.

Foley’s last wrestling match was in 2012 when he competed in the Royal Rumble match. After that, he made several WWE main roster appearances, even serving as the Raw general manager for a while.

As for his next AEW appearance, it will not occur on the May 27 episode of Dynamite. According to a report by PWInsider, Foley is committed to a “pre-existing responsibility” of which the company was made aware beforehand.

We are told he will be around regularly. I am told he won’t be in Philly this week as he has a pre-existing responsibility that was locked in before he signed but the impression I have been given is that he’ll be a regular part of AEW programming. [H/T: Wrestling Observer]

The upcoming episode will be a Dynamite/Collision taping, emanating from the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Vince Russo Concerned Over Mick Foley’s AEW Status

While fans have been excited about seeing Mick Foley in AEW, former WWE head writer Vince Russo expressed his concern as he spoke on an episode of The Coach & Bro podcast.

Russo claimed that he could not fathom watching Foley wrestle at his age despite his status as a legendary hardcore wrestler.

I think it’s absolutely awesome, Mick is awesome. I’m sure this is something he’s going to be very very excited about. The only thing that scares me a little is talking about Mick working. This is really a tough one because, you know, Mick is a legend, Mick is a legend because he worked a certain way. Obviously, he can’t work that way today but you know, Coach, that people are going to be expecting him to work that way today.

He lost a 100 pounds, so it’s very, very possible that he could pull it off but um…I’m thrilled to d*ath he is there, I’m thrilled to d*ath for Mick. I just want to see if this is going to turn into a match or not. Because at that point I think I’d be a little concerned.
